Please join us in congratulating PBLA Board Vice President Ed Ma, QC, who was recently announced as a 2020 SunCares Changemaker! Ed Ma, QC, is a senior strategy advisor in climate and energy policy at Suncor Energy, and a long-time volunteer on the Board of Pro Bono Law Alberta (PBLA). From co-developing PBLA’s strategic plan, to coordinating and overseeing legal assistance initiatives to help those impacted by the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfires, Ed’s contributions to PBLA have been invaluable.

Ed is indeed a “Changemaker” – his commitment to pro bono engagement is reflected by the fact that he has spent his entire career promoting and participating in access to justice initiatives. Each SunCares Changemaker identifies community organizations of choice to receive a donation from the SunCares Employee Program – Ed chose PBLA and we are immensely thankful for this. PBLA appreciates the generous donation from the SunCares Employee Program and applauds Suncor’s commitment to community building through the encouragement of volunteerism among its staff.

Ed exemplifies what it means to serve the community and we at PBLA are honoured to have such an exceptional and altruistic member of the legal profession serving as our Vice President.
