Due to concerns around the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and directives from municipal, provincial and federal governments, Alberta Health Services, World Health Organization, and other public health authorities; PBLA is temporarily suspending the Civil Claims Duty Counsel and Queen’s Bench Court Assistance programs at the Calgary and Edmonton courthouses—effective immediately. We are taking this precautionary measure as it is of the utmost importance to us that we do our part to protect staff, volunteers, program clients, and our community. Our offices will remain open for business.

We recognize the implications of a temporary suspension of PBLA court-based programming on program clients, and we will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and to keep stakeholders updated. In the interim, if you are in need of legal help, please refer to pbla.ca/get-legal-help/legal-resources for alternative legal resources. Note that you would need to contact the organizations listed directly to enquire about their criteria for legal services, and that the COVID-19 pandemic may also be impacting their service delivery.

For additional COVID-19 information, consider referring to the websites of Alberta Health Services and the Government of Canada for outbreak updates and awareness resources.
